Welcome to the Historic Green Street website!

The goal of this website is to share the rich commercial past and transportation history of the East end of Green Street in Jamaica Plain and to recognize the importance of several historic buildings still remaining between Amory Street and Washington Street. The website is in progress – it is expected to grow and evolve as a living record of the area.  Captions, gallery photos and additional information on the history of the area and nearby buildings will be added.

The Friends of Historic Green Street are advocating for establishment of a National Register District to recognize the importance of these buildings, and to make them eligible for federal funds including historic tax credits.
